I was born in Newport News, Virginia to an aerospace
engineer father and a school teacher mother. My sister, Laura, was born when I
was 7 years old. I was raised in Hampton, Virginia. I grew up loving the beach
and the water - we used to go crabbing when I was a kid, and that's something I
still enjoy doing off the dock at our neighborhood marina!
I was blessed with a rich and fulfilling childhood. I had
two caring parents that ensured my sister and I felt loved, nurtured and
respected. Our parents taught us the
importance of respecting others and the value of a strong family. My parents demonstrated clear focus, loyalty
and drive in life. Their example has helped me remain committed to my career: I
began my career at a national corporation at age 16 in 1987 as a customer
service associate at a grocery store. I worked in a store part-time until I
graduated from college. I've spent the past 25 years with the same corporation
where I've developed a strong background in grocery retail operations. For 14
years I've worked in the Department of Human Resources.
Balancing a career and family life is extremely important to
me. I value my time with Molly, our family, and our friends. I am very excited
about the prospect of having a child to share our life with - we are so ready
to be parents!
